If you find yourself being overwhelmed with all the information out there on how to effectively use social media for your business, here are six simple items you can do immediately with little effort and no cost.
1. Create Videos. Create a YouTube account and add in videos of you talking about your various areas of expertise. Frame it in a way that shows their pain point and how this information will help them (it’s not about you, it’s about helping them). Then repurpose the video – link it in all your social media outlets.
2. Use Photos. People are very visual – so use that. Add pictures that interest people. Use a picture of your new puppy to announce the release of a new product or service. Pictures draw people in and can entice them to read your blog or advertisement.
4. Tips for Facebook.
a. Set up the ”Follow” feature and allow people to follow you.
b. Segment your contacts into lists so you send the right messages to the right people!
c. Regularly ask for “Likes” for your posts and Facebook page.
d. Use the Graph Search Feature – for example: type in “people who live in (my city),” then click on “like (my) page,” and then you can “friend” those who like your page who live in your area with whom you are not already connected! Great marketing tool.
5. Use QR Codes. Put these in both your offline (business cards, postcards, flyers, marketing materials) and online (social media) promotions to drive people to your website. There are lots of places to get QR codes, and here’s an easy one I found to create your free QR code.
6. Share posts on high volume pages. For example, if you’re at Starbucks, tweet “I conduct a lot of business here at Starbucks. How often do you come here?” You’ll be seen by people you wouldn’t normally connect with and could increase traffic to your site/social media pages.
